Dalmore Regalis

The nose has vanilla, spices and cherrywood (or at least what I imagine cherry wood would smell like which is basically cherries and wood).  The taste is nutty, with tobacco, raspberry, caramel and milk chocolate.  The finish is woody, spicy with some cigar smoke.  With water it gets sweeter with ripe banana, more caramel and more tobacco in finish.  Overall a very nice, 40% ABV, sherry finished travel retail expression from Dalmore.

You Could Not Make this Stuff Up... The Final word in "Craft"

    Written by

OK whisky people, regardless of what a Florida judge may say, can we all agree it is now time to take the word "craft" out back and shoot it in the head like a diseased dog as it has become totally meaningless as Pepsi announce launch of their "craft soda". Time to call a good class action attorney? Mmmm a "good class action attorney".... add that to the list of sentences I thought I would never write.

This is number 3 of 3 samples I was sent by this distillery in exchange for a copy of 101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die. This single malt was matured in white wine casks and bottled at 58% ABV.   The nose is similar to the other expressions; sweet and fruity with apricots and red apples. The taste is warm and needs a little water to calm down the alcohol which is drying. The water makes it smoother with creamy toffee, candied fruits and a little oak. The finish is balanced with some tobacco and spice.
