Mortlach 16 year old

If you like sherried rich Speyside single malts then you probably like The Macallan or Glenfarclas.  However I think this one is just as good as those standard bearers, it is just a lot harder to find.  The nose spices, raisins, Christmas cask and sherry notes.  A bit like a grandma's pantry in December.  The taste is smooth and rich, all the classic bold Speyside notes with some sherry coming through as well.  With water it gets a little creamier, fruitier and sweeter (candy floss maybe).  The finish is drying and fruity and everything is beautifully balanced.  Classic sherried single malt whisky and I love it.
