A very reasonably priced wheated bourbon (under <$20 in Texas) that was originally distilled at the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville but is now made at Buffalo Trace. The nose is sweet with caramel, brown sugar and some corn. There is also a little acetone and a hint of cocoa. The taste is quite spicy at first, which may in part be due to alcohol as this is bottled at 45% ABV or 90 proof. The heat fades to reveal oak and vanilla and the mouthfeel is quite light and smooth. This is good but a little unexpected, dry and not as sweet as many bourbons and the even the nose suggested. The finish has some more spice, toasted oak and some more alchohol. Nice whisky for a great price.
