Lord Elcho 15 year old

The nose is fruity and sweet like a fresh baked peach crumble. The taste is a little more assertive than the nose. More spice and malt than in the nose, along with lemon and a little vanilla. Mouth feel is little thin. The finish is spicy and dry and the 15 years in oak is clear and a little out of balance for my palate.   Lord Elcho was a member of the Wemyss family who joined the ’45 Jacobite uprising and was eventually forced to live in exile in France.   Much like the ’45 this whisky had a great start, full of promise, but did not end well.
