Glenfiddich Vintage Cask

It has been a little under 6 years since I made my first trip to Dufftown in late 2008, toured Glenfiddich and my passion for whisky really took off. Up until that point it had been more of a healthy interest stemming back to a visit to the Midleton Distillery in Cork in July 2006.   Now I finally get to try a peated Glenfiddich.   The nose has campfire smoke, heather and malty sweetness. The taste has lemon, barley sugar, cocoa, malt and a slight perfumed (heather / honey?) note. The finish is blend of smoke and citrus. Peat is definitely the dominant characteristic but managed well enough to allow other aspects to come though as well. As I have come to expect from Glenfiddich; it is very well done.
