Woodford Reserve Distillers Select Straight Rye

This bottle was labelled #3031 from Batch 0887 and bottled at 45.2% ABV.  The nose was very nice, herbal tea with mint and sweet vanilla notes.  The mouthfeel is fresh, light and oily, bittersweet on palate with more vanilla, candy, black coffee and dark chocolate.  The finish has peppermint, wood and grassy rye notes.  With water it gets sweeter, even honeyed, while heat builds in the finish with chilli spiced dark chocolate.  Overall very delicious; a light and subtle of straight rye.

    Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy

This 46% ABV pot still release is not yet available in Texas so I bought a sample from Master of Malt as I am big fan of Red Breast pot still whiskey and had high hopes for this.  The nose has a fantastic fruitiness, peaches and critrus peel.  There is also some vanilla and biscuit notes. Delicious.  The taste is smooth and sweet, fruity and complex and more biscuit notes.  The finish builds and lingers, spicey but not hot, mellowed and even minty.   With water develops a more peppery bite.  Its good, but my sample was small and now I need to find a bottle now!
