I first bought a bottle of this at the Whisky Shop in Aberdeen in 2011, however it didn't last long and I did not even get round to taking notes. I have never seen this in the USA, which is a pity, fortunately the boys (or girls) at
www.masterofmalt.com are now offering samples of this one. The nose has banana and vanilla, almost like a banana custard. Very fresh, even a slight acetone note, the 16 years in bourbon casks is evident. The taste has even more banana and vanilla, with a spicy oak finish and then one more hit of banana. This whisky, in a word, banana. With water the mouth feel is a little more silky, the oak in the finish increases to the point of almost being a little smokey. Water definitely reminds this has been in oak for 16 years!
