Dewar's Signature

Anither great blended scotch and available in Texas as of April 2012 at under $100 / bottle so also represents a pretty good deal for premium scotch whisky.  The nose is good but a little evasive.  Some citrus fruit perhaps but nothing stood out.  The taste is rich and mouthcoating, sweet at first then fades to reveal dark chocolate, sweet cherries.  The finish is dry at first with some wood notes, a hint of smoke and spices.  With a little water I got some vanilla, more fruity notes and a richer oak flavor.  A big whisky, if this was your last dram of the night you might still be tasting it the next morning.  I doubt anyone would pick this out as a blend if tasting "blind" it is so rich but I had one complaint perhaps it is that nothing in the nose or even the taste really grabs you by the scruff of the neck.  Well not for me anyway.
