A very good value and drinkable bourbon from the Sazerac owned Barton 1792 distillery which I first tried at jim Murray's Masterclass In Victoria. The 1792 date refers to formation of the commonwealth of Kentucky and not the age of the distillery.....a slight deception maybe but I forgive them as they make an excellent spirit. I was told by the tour guide at Barton that 1792 had a high rye content (she estimated 30 percent) and that certainly comes through in the taste. The nose has some grain spirit notes, with corn syrup sweetness. Very rich with a hint of alcohol as well. The taste had caramel and vanilla which fades to oaky spice finish with rye notes. Delicious.
