Should I count this as the unspecified “Adnams” product for my 101 Whiskies World Whiskies to Try Before You Die count because technically this is not whisky? It is actually distilled beer (Broadside Bitter to be exact), listed online as an eau de vie and bottled at 43% abv. However as they haven’t released anything else yet (as I write it is February 2013) I will count it for now and see what happens. What are you going to do? Call the blog police? I thought not. The nose is beery. Surprisingly beery. A little leathery note as well, it reminded me (I have no idea why) of the menswear section in a department store. Perhaps I am going a little insane. The taste is intensely sweet at first, then spicy with malt and hoppy fruitiness which then fades to a beery finish combined with some toasty oakiness. This stuff is a total mindf***. It tastes a lot like what it is, highly concentrated beer syrup. Imagine what you might get for a beer making Soda Stream… which by the way is a BRILLIANT idea.
